Tickets to Oasis’ just announced reunion concerts went on sale on Saturday through Ticketmaster and quickly sold-out soon afterwards. That left thousands of fans frustrated and angry after they faced technical issues and long wait times that prevented them from securing tickets to the legendary Britpop band’s first shows in 16 years. Fans had to sign up for a pre-sale lottery in order to even have an opportunity to purchase tickets, and it has been estimated that only 2.3% of fans who signed up for the lottery ended up receiving a purchase code. But even with the purchase code, that didn’t guarantee fans would be able to ultimately purchase a ticket.
During Saturday’s public on-sale, thousands of fans reported waiting in an online queue for up to three hours, only to have Ticketmaster’s website “crash” or get redirected to an “Error 503” page. For their part, Oasis is trying to limit the number of tickets available on secondary ticket platforms. The band warned buyers that any tickets appearing “on secondary ticketing sites are either counterfeit or will be cancelled by the promoters.” (Consequence of Sound)
